The Journey down the Via Dolorosa

The Journey down the Via Dolorosa

The Via Dolorosa is a processional route in the Old City of Jerusalem. It represents the path that Jesus took, forced by the Roman soldiers, on the way to his crucifixion. The winding route from the former Antonia Fortress to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre a distance of about 600 metres.

Let’s look at Jesus’s week at a glance.

‼️Sunday:

Palm🌴Sunday, ride Jesus, ride! Jesus rides into town.

“Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the highest!” (Matthew 21:9)

Palm Sunday commemorates when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey the week before his crucified and death. Although the people cried, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” and greeted Him with anxious expectation. However, by Friday, they would crucify Him. One week after He entered Jerusalem was the one week after He entered Jerusalem was the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Now’s the time/Hosanna(Medley) “song” by Carman.

‼️Monday:

Another day at the office, Carpentry work orders to be filled.

In Mark 6:3, “Isn’t this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and the brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? Aren’t his sisters here with us?”

‼️Tuesday:

Finishing up His carpentry work orders.

‼️Wednesday:

Hanging out with the disciples and having a👌Perfect day “song” by LZ7. What would you do if it was your last week on the planet?

‼️Thursday:

Tossing and turning; Jesus knows a bad day is coming; Mark 14:12-31; Mark 14:32-72.

‼️Friday:

Jesus is dead; Mark 15:1-47. Luke 23:1-56.

‼️Sunday: Jesus is Risen; Matthew 28:1-20. Woo-hoo!!! Amen “song” by Carman.

Disciples are worried and don’t know what to do. Jesus appeared to His Disciples; Luke 24:36-43

While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”

They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”

When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, Do you have anything here to “eat?” They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he took it and ate it in their presence.

Every year, in my mind, I like to pretend like I’m walking down the Via Dolorosa with Jesus. To remember, to “feel it with him. To put myself in His👞shoes, empathy.

To try to understand what it must have felt like to walk through such an experience. To help carry the cross like Simon of Cyrene. My tiny cross; Matthew 6:24; Luke 9:23; Luke 14:27.

Simon Cyrene is mentioned by name in only three passages of Scripture: Matthew 27:32, Mark 15:21, and Luke 23:26). In Matthew, it is said, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name. They compelled this man to carry the cross.

Mark’s Gospel states, “they compelled a passerby, Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to carry His cross.” Luke says, “And as they led Him away, they seized one Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, and laid on him the cross, to carry it behind Jesus.” Watch the Lamb “song” by Ray Boltz.

Back to what I was saying, as I tried to understand what it’s like to die on the cross✝️or die to self…my hopes, dreams, behaviors, habits, attitude, etc.

My🙏prayer: I bring everything that I have before God and lay it down to “die that it may be “sowed as a “seed, and in due season, Father God, you will “resurrect it; that it may produce “30, 60 and 100-fold, in Jesus’s name…that the kingdom of God or “hidden glory” will be “extended to the next generation in Jesus’s name. Anoint this word and bring it to pass, I pray. I praise you, God, in advance🙌

Galatians 2:20, which states, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.” This idea emphasizes letting go of selfish desires to live a life devoted to God and others. Crucified with Christ “song” by Philip, Craig and Dean.

Once again, I just wanted to see in my mind’s eye🧐

…a week in the life of Jesus. Via Dolorosa “song” by Sandi Patty.

…now we understand, The Passion of the Christ; because His or…This blood is for you.
This blood “song” by Carman.

Welcome, I'm Karen!
Hello friend! Writing has been my passion since I was nine. Winning my first writing contest at that young age inspired me to keep improving my skills. Fast forward to when I was 22 years old when I experienced a profound spiritual awakening that led me to become a devout Christian. From that point on, I knew that I wanted to use my writing abilities to spread the word of God and positively impact the world.

  • Over the past 30 years, I have poured myself into my writing, producing a wide range of content that spans from letters to prisoners and newsletters to newspaper articles, books, and social media posts.
  • For the past four years, I have even been contributing to the Churchome App, sharing my thoughts, insights, and experiences with the wider Christian community.
  • I am particularly proud of my latest books, "Let's Make Love, Then Cook. It's Not What You Think" and "It's Just Good Housekeeping."
  • "Let's Make Love, Then Cook. It's Not What You Think" is about loving God, loving people, and serving people.
  • "It's Just Good Housekeeping." is about finding an attractive way to encourage everyone to read their Bible because reading the Bible has an impact on keeping our lives clean and pure.

These books are a testament to my love of writing, as well as my commitment to using that writing to inspire, inform, and entertain people from all walks of life.
